I put four popular back-to-school laptop deals to the test to see which retailer between Best Buy, Amazon, Target and Walmart offers the best value. Through comparisons of performance, practicality, and price, I uncovered some surprising results about these so-called “deals”. In the end, an unexpected winner emerged as the clear best choice for students on a budget.

  1. Just wondering why we’re talking about gaming, media consumption, and not much else? These are back-to-school items, aren’t they?

  2. @migueldoesstuff6994 November 15, 2024 at 9:42 am

Should’ve bought the 300 dollar gateway from wallmart or the other more expensive versions, basically a knockoff macbook

  3. I used a base ipad with a 3rd party clamshell keyboard throughout college. Worked great for notes and writing papers

  4. for a reason macbook and ipad is a best gadget to buy

  5. Austin is a bit shameless with his ratings on the mac bruh

  6. I don’t think you used the best iPad for the sake of this comparison. I feel like an iPad Air with the M1 chip would’ve been a more fair side by side, especially since it uses the Magic Keyboard case that far exceeds the keyboard folio in every way (except for the lack of function keys).

  7. I have the Lenovo Legion 5 as my school laptop and it’s pretty good although it doesn’t have a cam but i only need it for coding, video editing and ai so it’s fine for me

  8. One of the main reasons the tuf has such bad battery life is usually using armoury crate, as it is extremely bad, I own a tuf f15 and I got about 3 hrs of battery life out of the box, but with ghealper instead of armoury crate, I now get closer t 11 hrs using microsoft edge

  9. Man spending 500 – 600 dollars on a laptop with a u processor is something i believe sucks, instead i would buy a gaming laptop and just by a little bigger bag and don’t mind carrying extra 800-900 gm weight on my BACK
It’s better to be a warrior in a garden than a gardener in a battle field.

  10. How tf did the TUF not get 1st in performance? What…

  11. My suggestion, eBay 2015 MacBook pro 👍 ur welcome

  12. In my opinion, the Apple products need to be disqualified. Most schools use a Microsoft-based infrastructure where a MacBook doesn’t fit in.

  13. i thought in america schools were using Chromebooks ,, since they were inexpensive $200 ..$300
and 10,000’s could be " managed " using "Admin Console " and " Google Classroom "
look on YouTube ,, 9 years ago 2015,, " Managing Chromebooks with the Google Admin Console "
and just search for " Google Classroom "

  14. I don’t recall iPads being laptops

  15. The MacBook Air sounded terrible in the video call. It was a toss up if that or the Tuft sounded worse. I thought the Lenovo was actually really solid. Am I hearing impaired? Or is Austin?

  16. @dezielbessette6830 November 15, 2024 at 10:03 am

I wish you would have done a surface in this mix as well

  17. @beautiesfoodies8790 November 15, 2024 at 10:03 am

What do you do with all of these computers??

  18. In uk it’s £799.00 1:27 1:27

  19. My school gives us Chromebooks to use during the school year and it gets the job done tbh

  20. after getting my mac from my school battery life SUCKS after 2 years

  21. I feel like the majority of these are a tad expensive or odd choices as "back to school" laptops, the Lenovo being more in line with most people’s budgets and uses.

  22. The m2 macbook being 750-850 now is undoubtedly the champion like unbeatable

  23. Austin,, Nine years ago,, 2015,,, you did a video " Is a $170 Chromebook Worth It? "
You seemed to like it at the time,,, and TODAY Chromebooks are still inexpensive $200…300
they have Android 13, desktop chrome browser with extensions,, Linux & 10 years of updates
are you advertising the laptops or the shops where they came from?

  24. I used to have a gaming laptop for school. It had a GTX 1650 and 24gb of RAM. My school provided laptops could barely have 3 chrome tabs open without crashing, but my gaming laptop could handle all of the work I’d ever been assigned. I’d recommend getting a cheaper gaming laptop if you can afford to spend a little extra, its 100% worth it.

  25. As the greatest technician that ever lived once said… Buy retired / de-commissioned office laptops 😂 they were built to last.

  26. Up to Austin to max half of the lineup apple products lmao

  27. laptop in Chinese online sell be like

  28. I’m a junior and I literally didn’t buy anything for school this year bro 800-900 is crazy work

  29. I have a surface pro , works fantastic for school work, small and light and have no issues with battery life and on top of that it can do light gaming .

  30. I personally got the M1 MacBook Air and the Lenovo IdeaPad, and both are very great. I recommend it

  31. @panagiotiskatris5002 November 15, 2024 at 10:16 am

    MacBook 🤢🤮🤮

  32. Any touchpad without physical buttons is a garbage touchpad

  33. should’ve done staples

  34. @RayaLovesYou-ji5xl November 15, 2024 at 10:20 am

Target has laptops. You have tablet chosen as a filter. I always feel like targer never has a fair chance in these type of videos

  35. For 10-12th grade, my primary computer was actually an M1 iPad Air with an ESR keyboard. Against the equipment it gives at school, it was surprisingly amazing. It performed better and did better than other kids that had their own computers. Even for college, an iPad will do everything you need a computer can do, webcam, great battery, good multitask, and unless the laptop it’s better at note taking. I now primarily use a MacBook Pro, but the iPad is still a useful tool for my college note taking, doing math to save paper, and as an extra display for my MacBook.

Really long but there’s my thoughts on being an iPad kid in school.

  36. My school supplies us with books and supplies and stuff but THEY ARE THE MOST LOW QUALITY CHEAP SHIT OF ALL TIME

  37. this video is absolute non-sense. What matters most about a laptop is portability first and foremost, secondly ease of use (the ipad or a touchscreen laptop are great in lectures) and way down at the bottom is performance, frankly so long as you can have like 12-15 tabs open you’ll be fine most work is research based and any editing you do will be with low quality footage. 3d work is often done on the school/uni’s machinary they are unlikely to offer that work without the tools to complete it. Your perspective is valid but is very far off the perspective of a student.

  38. lol you over shot it by like $300, most parents are spending $0-$280 for kids school laptop. but you can actually get Windows 10 -Hp laptops for around $200 now so its not too bad out there

  39. Wait he gets commission on the Walmart laptop. I smell something fishy going on

  40. I bought the Lenovo for my son, everything was working fine until his friends told him to install free office and now the laptop has damage to the operating system.

  41. @crewrangergaming9582 November 15, 2024 at 10:28 am

Austin’s biggest benchmark of testing tech is watching YouTube on it.

  42. @bjørnjacobsengaming November 15, 2024 at 10:30 am

Don’t the students get a laptop from the school that they can use both at school and at home? In Denmark, students in most schools are given a laptop that they can use at school and at home. It is of course on loan, but this applies as long as they go to school, which is from 0 to 10th grade. Each class is one year. However, you do not have to use a 10-year-old laptop in the last school year you go to school, as you get to renew the laptop you borrow every 3-4 years. year, maybe more often, depending on the school you attend. And no, they are by no means gaming PCs, but a laptop that you often also see in office environments. In fact, the ones I’m aware of are the Lenovo with a 14" screen.

  43. bro just go bald at this point

  44. 10:00 – 12:41 Yep, and that’s why I laugh at people who recommend tablet-keyboard combos as a viable alternative to laptops especially for school: they’re not comfortable to type on in the long run, they require an uncomfortable sh*t-ton of dongles and more often than not are more expensive than a good laptop.

  45. Apple products are like Wh0res, Everybody wants to put their hands on them but immediately ousted and made fun of when caught with one. Complaining of always having to pay more for extra when the junk is already there lol oh and over self value for something thats been beaten to death and over rated lol

  46. Austin: Are "School" Laptops a SCAM?
Me: No, just severely under powered in they cannot do basic shit.

  47. the rtx 3050 laptop gpu 😂😂😂

  48. You were two and a half months too early to buy from newly opened department stores like Wall After Wallmart or bestest buy. Personally don’t buy a Dell Latitude D620 because of age and battery defects but a kaby lake Dell Inspiron with windows 7 would be nice. We sell it all at my stores and kids and adults can get Carson Dellosa books for school from these stores too

  49. @WolfIsMySpiritAnimal November 15, 2024 at 10:40 am

Don’t most schools demand Windows instead of Mac?

  50. @simaknaveedakther8755 November 15, 2024 at 10:40 am

Black friday will make this laptops dirt cheap
